The Wycliffe USA Board of Directors

To maintain accountability, Wycliffe USA elects a board of directors that consists of not only Wycliffe personnel, but also pastors, business people, educational leaders and others who have been involved in the work of Bible translation.

Those selected to serve on the board must demonstrate Christian character and enthusiastically support the work of Bible translation. Using their ability to think strategically and work creatively, the board sets the direction for Wycliffe USA. The president of Wycliffe USA, Bob Creson, working with the Senior Leadership Team, is responsible for meeting these goals.

Name:

Dr. Eddie B. Lane

Title:  Board Member
Pastor: Bibleway Bible Church
Former Professor: Dallas Theological Seminary

Dr. Eddie B. Lane founded Bibleway Bible Church because of a desire to influence his community for the cause of Christ and to be involved in the training and preparation of men and women for ministry. By giving Bibleway Bible Church a strong biblical foundation, Lane developed many Christian leaders, including three missionaries.

Lane’s first introduction to missions came from Wycliffe. He commissioned Gertrude Nicholas, a literacy worker in Papua New Guinea, at Bibleway Bible Church. With Wycliffe, he took a trip to Papua New Guinea to experience missions firsthand. “That trip literally changed my commitment to missions. I have not been the same since,” Lane said. He came back with an appreciation for Bible translation and an earnest desire to be involved.

Besides being head pastor, Lane served as the associate dean of students for minority services, and associate professor of pastoral ministries, at Dallas Theological Seminary. Lane also founded the Institute for Black Family Renewal, a non-profit organization. He has authored many books on the African American family including, The African American Christian Family and The African American Christian Parent.

Lane received a bachelor’s in history from the University of Texas at Dallas. He also holds a master of theology from the Dallas Theological Seminary and an honorary doctorate of divinity from Denver Seminary.

He and his wife three children and seven grandchildren.
