Karen Lynip began her professional life as an educator. After teaching elementary school in New York state and high school in the Philippines, Lynip served in a number of strategic leadership roles with Wycliffe and its affiliate organizations, including training consultant with SIL International.
Since joining Wycliffe in 1979, Lynip has facilitated cross-cultural partnerships, coordinated training for teachers and consultants, and served as a liaison between the Translators Association of the Philippines and the Wycliffe Seed Company. She has contributed to community development in the Philippines by conducting Global Relief and Development courses and acting as educator and coordinator with the SIL community health and development department. She has also co-authored a book and several articles relating to cross-cultural service, including a paper that has become required reading for all new Wycliffe staff.
Lynip holds a master of arts degree in social science and leadership (with an emphasis in cross-cultural organizational development) from Azusa Pacific University. She earned her bachelor of arts in English from Houghton College, and has also completed post-graduate courses in education, human relations, and community development at the State University of New York and the University of Oklahoma.
