Joyce A. Prettol has a wide variety of experiences within Wycliffe. From teaching to translating to administration, Prettol sees many sides to the Wycliffe organization and uses this wide vision while serving on the board of directors.
Prettol and her husband began working with Wycliffe in 1972 as teachers for missionary children. During that time they also worked as translators for the Ese Ejja language in Bolivia. Eventually, Prettol moved to the Philippines working as a consultant for language learning and then in administrative roles. Prettol also served on the board of Faith Academy while in the Philippines. After the Philippines, Prettol moved to Dallas and became the international coordinator for personnel training for Wycliffe International and SIL International.
In 1970, Prettol received her bachelor’s of arts in English education from Trinity College. She continued her education and obtained a master’s in human resource leadership from Azusa Pacific University. As part of her work, Prettol has presented academic papers on training and other leadership issues.
Prettol and her husband currently live in South Asia where her husband serves as an SIL field director and she works as a language program coordinator, supervising teams involved in language development and translation projects.
