The Wycliffe USA Board of Directors

To maintain accountability, Wycliffe USA elects a board of directors that consists of not only Wycliffe personnel, but also pastors, business people, educational leaders and others who have been involved in the work of Bible translation.

Those selected to serve on the board must demonstrate Christian character and enthusiastically support the work of Bible translation. Using their ability to think strategically and work creatively, the board sets the direction for Wycliffe USA. The president of Wycliffe USA, Bob Creson, working with the Senior Leadership Team, is responsible for meeting these goals.

Regional Director: SIL Eastern and Southern Africa

BIOGRAPHY

Gary Cowman is SIL*’s Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa and is tasked with developing SIL leaders, strategies, and contingency policies for Eastern and Southern Africa.

Gary has served with Wycliffe for nearly 25 years. Most of that time has been spent on African soil, serving the Eastern Africa Group in various capacities. Until recently, Gary also served as Chair of SIL Educational Trust, West Nairobi School.

During his first years with Wycliffe, Gary worked in finance at the Wycliffe USA office, applying his BA in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton.

Gary brings significant experience to the Wycliffe USA board, having served as chair of the Bantu Council, the Inter-Entity Board, and the Eastern Africa Group executive committee. He also continues to serve on the board of Bible Translation and Literacy—a Kenyan organization.

Gary and his wife, Lori, have two daughters and live in Nairobi, Kenya.
