Unforeseen financial challenges can cause contributions to a missionary's ministry to fall significantly below their recommended monthly need: a medical problem or family crisis arises; expenses go up unexpectedly; the cost-of-living spikes because of political instability where they serve; or gifts for their ministry fall off because a donor passes away, loses a job or retires.
