Just in Time for Easter
The Bum language community of Cameroon applied for help from CABTAL* to develop their language and translate Scripture into Bum. CABTAL observed that the Bum language is very similar to others in the area. If they took on the translation task in the Bum community only, the work would need to be duplicated in those communities.
So CABTAL formed a cluster project, translating the New Testament and portions of the Old Testament for three languages in the Central Ring language family simultaneously—the Bum, the Mmen and the Babanki. The recently completed New Testament of the Kom language, also a member of the language family, serves as a reference text for the three new translations.
A very successful Gospel Narrative Workshop—focusing on how stories are told in the four gospels—was held in February of 2007 in Cameroon. Mother-tongue translators from two of the Central Ring languages attended and left the workshop with their draft of the Resurrection Story, just in time for Easter.
Please pray that the Lord will produce a great harvest of disciples as the Central Ring communities hear the wonderful news of Christ’s resurrection in their mother tongues. Praise God that the story of Christ’s resurrection is as fresh as the day it happened.
It is Wycliffe’s vision that every language around the world will have the opportunity to hear and be captivated by this life-changing story.
