Let's Talk About Finances

Most roles with Wycliffe are member positions. Member positions are filled by people who have completed the application process and have been accepted as full-time member-employees of Wycliffe.

Why Partnership Teams?

Sunday School PrayingWycliffe USA has found that an overwhelming majority of U.S. churches prefer to support the ministry of individuals, rather than contribute to a general fund. This not only helps foster close relationships between Wycliffe members and those who support their ministry financially, but also serves as the foundation for a network of personal prayer support. It's also biblical. Of course, it’s not the only biblical model for Christian service, and we’ll admit it’s not always easy, but churches and individuals have been supporting missionaries since Paul. Jesus even had supporters.

Where do Wycliffe members’ salaries come from?

With God’s guidance each member builds and maintains a prayer and financial partnership team that support the Wycliffe ministry in which the member serves. A partnership team may include individuals, families and churches. Wycliffe helps members build partnership teams by providing communication tools and coaching and budget-planning assistance, including an estimate of annual support needs. Through the years God has faithfully provided for Wycliffe members worldwide and will continue to do so.

The amount of members’ monthly salaries is not guaranteed, but is based on funds available from tax-deductible contributions received by Wycliffe for their ministry. The amount each member has to raise includes ministry expenses, retirement savings and an assessment of 10% that provides for the administrative needs of the organization. Wycliffe does not have any professional fund-raisers who raise funds for the overhead expenses of the organization.
