Profile of a Recruiter
Jim joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1977 after working several years in industry as an electrical engineer. He was involved in the design of the first notebook computers to be used in the field by Bible translators. Other projects included being part of the team that designed Wycliffe’s network and installation of business software, and project manager for Wycliffe’s interactive Explorer CD.
After fifteen years of involvement in the area of computers, Jim took an assignment in 1993 as a mobilizer and recruiter of technical personnel into missions. Jim is currently involved in the design of a multi-media presentation for use in missions awareness, speaking on college campuses, and major events such as the Alive Festival, Cornerstone and Urbana.
Jim Leamer also works out of the Wycliffe Southeast regional office as the computer recruiter. He usually speaks on college campuses about technology in missions, particularly Bible translation. If you would like more information on Jim's presentations, visit our IT Speakers' page.
