BILL BRIGHT SCRIPTURE IMPACT AWARD

Created in 2003 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, USA, the Bill Bright Scripture Impact Award recognizes individuals, families, or organizations whose contributions to Bible translation, Scripture proclamation, and Scripture engagement embody the late Campus Crusade for Christ founder Bill Bright’s love for the Lord and the Scriptures.

The award has been presented to the following individuals:

• Luis Palau, 2011

• Dr. Barry Black, 2008

• Cynthia and Chuck Swindoll, 2006

• Rick Warren, 2005

• Billy Graham, 2004

• Caroline and Bunker Hunt, 2003

Nominations for the 2012 Bill Bright Scripture Impact Award were due by October 15, 2011. Nominations for the 2013 award will begin in June, 2012. 

The award is not given for good works, per se, but for a substantial record of lifetime achievements that highlight or exemplify one of the various ways in which Scripture has made an impact on lives. Past recipients have included business leaders and philanthropists who used their knowledge, contacts, and finances to resource the Bible translation movement. They include pastors and teachers whose books, teaching, and testimony evidenced a passion for God’s Word and its application to life. They include evangelists and leaders within our government who used their influence and position to advance the Gospel and strengthen a commitment to Scripture in this day and age.

As you consider nominations you may have for a future award, please look for an individual or organization that meets some or all of the following criteria:

• Passion for the Bible and a commitment to see God’s Word reach the least, the last, and the lost

• Life proclaims the central truths of Scripture and is led daily by the Word of God

• Believes in the necessity of regular Scripture engagement

• Proclaims the Gospel, whether through direct preaching or teaching, or through financial assistance or advocacy to enable others to do so

• Creative and innovative

• Work might be, but is not limited to, one of the following fields: church planting, discipleship, teaching, writing, linguistics, religious leadership, organizational entrepreneurship, and the development of new tools
