Pray for the Translators

“...Though I did nothing to deserve it,... I was chosen for this special joy of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ.” (Ephesians 3:8, NLT)
  • Pray that people welcome the translators and that no one will harm them.
  • Pray that they have God’s wisdom in how to relate to the people and set a good example by their attitudes as they learn how to show God’s love in spite of cultural differences.
  • Pray for diligence in meeting the people and learning the language. Pray that God will lead them to His choice of language and translation helpers.
  • Pray that they will not let anyone or anything distract them from doing God’s will and that they will be a good example by their attitudes.
  • Pray that they will make it a priority to spend time with God each day and demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in their relationships.

Pray for the People

“God blesses you who are hungry now, for you will be satisfied.” (Luke 6:21a, NLT)
  • Pray that they will take pride in their language and be patient and helpful in teaching and helping the translators.
  • Pray that they are protected from outsiders who would exploit them and that they will not have unreal expectations of the translators.
  • Pray that they are open to the Gospel, seeking truth and the true God, asking for God’s help and wisdom in opposing evil.
  • Pray that education is esteemed and that those who have it will help their people.
  • Pray that they will be preparing their future pastors, evangelists and teachers.
  • Pray that they have adequate food, healthy bodies and spiritual strength.
  • Pray that their churches model the good and beautiful aspects of their culture and become true followers of Christ and “people of the Book.”

Pray for Support Workers

“May the Lord show him special kindness on the day of Christ's return. And you know how much he helped me at Ephesus.” (2 Timothy 1:18, NLT)
  • Pray that support workers are aware of how important their part is in furthering translation work.
  • Pray for children’s education people—teachers, student residence parents, school administrators and librarians.
  • Pray for technical support people and community development specialists who express the practical love of Jesus.
  • Pray for the people who provide safe, effective and economical transport by land, air or water.
  • Pray for computer people to share their expertise in an understandable way and for telecommunications people to help provide email, radio and satellite phone support.
  • Pray for construction, maintenance and management people who develop and maintain translation support centers around the world; also for purchasing and shipping people to keep supplies flowing smoothly.

Pray for Your Commitment

“But, you dear friends, must continue to build your lives on the foundation of your holy faith. And continue to pray as you are directed by the Holy Spirit.” ( Jude 1:20, NLT)
  • Pray that God will keep you faithful in prayer for the translators and the people.
  • Pray that you may persevere in prayer until God’s Word is available to the people.
