Pray for the Message

“Yet faith comes from listening to this message of good news—the Good News about Christ.” (Romans 10:17, NLT)
  • Pray that God will give Bibleless people a hunger for His Word in their heart language.
  • Ask God to prepare their hearts to be ready to receive Christ.
  • Pray that they read, or have read to them, Scripture portions as they become available in their heart language.
  • Pray that indigenous churches will use the translated Scriptures.

Pray for the People

“His purpose in all of this was that the nations should seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him…” (Acts 17:27, NLT)
  • Pray by location. Each person is a resident in, or displaced from, a country with political and social conditions that need prayer.
  • Pray by language. Many people have some understanding of a national language, but there are still millions of people whose heart language has not yet been written down.
  • Pray for unity among churches and missions working with the people. Pray for the fruit of the Holy Spirit to be evident through cooperation.

Pray for Language Workers

“So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send out more workers for His fields.”  (Matthew 9:38, NLT)
  • Pray for workers to be called, trained and sent.
  • Pray for initial contacts with people. Pray that God provides friends to help workers find housing and make cross-cultural adjustments.
  • Pray that God will remove any suspicions, false rumors or misunderstandings. Pray for the involvement of the community until the translation program becomes their own.

Pray for Support Workers

“Under His direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. ...each part does its own special work.” (Ephesians 4:16, NLT)
  • Pray for children’s education personnel. Children’s education is a big challenge for missionaries. Pray for teachers, student residence parents, school administrators and librarians to support these families.
  • Pray for those giving technical support. Pray for community development specialists to express the practical love of Jesus. Pray for people to help provide safe, effective and economical transportation via land, air or water. Pray for more help with information technology. Pray for telecommunications personnel to provide email, radio and satellite phone support.
  • Pray for media support workers. Pray for writers, artists, printing personnel and electronic media specialists to help provide media in the translated language and to communicate to prayer and financial partners about the needs and the progress of the work.
  • Pray for operational support personnel. Pray for construction, maintenance and management people to develop and maintain translation support centers around the world. Pray for purchasing and shipping staff to keep supplies flowing smoothly.

Pray for the Completion of the Task to the Glory of God

“I brought glory to You here on earth by doing everything You told me to do.” (John 17:4, NLT)
  • Pray for perseverance. Pray that those involved in the Bible translation task will not grow weary or give up before the work is completed.
  • Dare to ask God to provide His Word for every person in the same measure He has already provided it for us—written and in their heart language!
