Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices for personally identifiable information collected by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. (“Wycliffe”) through this web site – www.wycliffe.org (the “Site”).  We continuously strive to make your experience online satisfying and safe.  Because we gather certain types of information about our users, it is important that you understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of this information. This Privacy Policy discloses what information we gather and how we use it.

By using this Site, you agree: (1) that you have reviewed and understood our Terms and Conditions listed at http://www.wycliffe.org/PrivacyLegal/TermsandConditions.aspx and this Privacy Policy to your full satisfaction, (2) that you accept and are subject to our Terms and Conditions and this Privacy Policy, and (3) that Wycliffe is permitted to use your personal information as set forth below.  If you do not agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions and this Privacy Policy, please leave this Site immediately, do not access or otherwise use any portion of the Site, and do not disclose any personal information to Wycliffe via this Site.
Information Wycliffe Collects
Wycliffe gathers two types of information about you on the Site:

1. Information you provide through optional, voluntary submissions throughout the Site. These optional, voluntary submissions include, but are limited to, requests: (a) to receive our e-mails and/or print publications, (b) to participate in our surveys and polls, (c) to email a page to a friend, (d) to make a purchase at our online store, (e) to make a donation online, and/or (e) to make use of any of our other online services. Wycliffe collects this information from you at several different points on our Site, including, but not limited to: the “Create an Account,” “Shop,” and/or “Donate” pages on the Site.

2. Information gathered through aggregated tracking, derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our Site.  This aggregated tracking information includes, without limitation: (a) information such as the server your computer is logged onto, (b) your browser type (e.g., Netscape or Internet Explorer), and (c) the pages you view/request to be viewed. This information allows us to better tailor our content to your needs.

How We Use Your Information
Wycliffe is the sole owner of the information collected on this Site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this Privacy Policy.

Wycliffe uses your personal information to: (1) process your requests and transactions, (2) offer or furnish additional products and services, (3) personalize the types of information you receive from Wycliffe, (4) assess trends in the use of our Site or purchases of products or services, (5) develop content and functionality that helps us serve our readers’ needs, and (6) improve the service and products we provide.  In addition, at some point in the future, we might sell or buy businesses or assets, or Wycliffe might be acquired by, or merged with, another company.  In any of those circumstances, personal information in our databases may be included among the transferred assets.

Registration
In some cases our site uses securely encrypted contribution response forms for visitors who choose to use these forms to provide information, request information, and/or make donations. We collect your willingly submitted contact information (e.g., your email address), unique identifiers (e.g., a Wycliffe donor account number), and financial information (e.g., credit card type, number, and expiration date). Contact information from these response forms is used to process donations, provide receipts, and provide other information about Wycliffe to our customers. Your contact information is also used to get in touch with you when necessary in order to resolve customer service issues or questions. You may readily opt-out of receiving future communications - see the “Choice/Opt-Out” and “Correction/Updating Personal Information" sections below. Financial information that is collected is used to bill you for donations pledged. Unique identifiers (e.g., a Wycliffe account number) may be collected from you to assist in matching current donation information with donor history in our record systems.

Sharing
We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and affiliates from time to time. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.  We partner with other parties to provide specific services. When you sign up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.

Special Offers
We send all new members a welcoming email to verify password and username. Established members will occasionally receive information on products, services, special deals, and a newsletter. Out of respect for the privacy of our users, we present the option to not receive these types of communications. Please see our “Choice/Opt-Out” section below.

Site and Service Updates
We may also send you site and service announcement updates. Members are not able to un-subscribe from service announcements, which contain important information about the service. We use the service to communicate with you to provide requested services, and to inform you of any issues relating to your account.

Correction/Updating Personal Information
If your personally identifiable information changes (e.g., your zip code), or if you no longer desire our service, we will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update, and/or remove your personal information provided to us.  This can usually be done at the “My Account” page on this Site.  If you are unable to correct, update, and/or remove your personal information at the “My Account” page on this Site, please send an e-mail to web_coordinator@wycliffe.org.

Choice/Opt-out
If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter or promotional materials requested through our website you may opt-out of receiving these communications by updating your subscriptions under “My Account” page of this site.  You are always notified when your information is being collected by any outside party. We do this so you can make an informed choice as to whether you should proceed with services that require an outside party, or not. Partner organizations of Wycliffe USA maintain their own mailing lists. Please contact them directly regarding your receipt of their materials.

Children Under 13
Wycliffe encourages parents and guardians to spend time online with their children and to participate in the interactive activities offered on this Site.  Parents should consider using parental control tools available from online services and software manufacturers to help supervise their children's online activities. These tools can also prevent children from disclosing their name, address, and other personal information online without parental permission.

Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (“COPPA”), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information (e.g., name, email, mailing address, phone number) from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental or legal guardian consent in compliance with COPPA.  No information should be submitted to this Site by visitors under the age of 13 without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.  Parents can email us to have any of their child's information removed from any further use or communications at web_coordinator@wycliffe.org.

Wycliffe reserves the right to change or modify portions of this Privacy Policy at any time. If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post the revised Privacy Policy linked from our “Homepage” on this Site so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.  Our Privacy Policy will indicate the date it was last updated.  Your continued use of this Site following posted changes of this Privacy Policy indicates your acceptance of these changes.
