Q. What kind of people is Wycliffe looking for to serve as teachers or school administrators?

A. People who work well with children, young people and parents. People who are flexible and enthusiastic, who love the Lord and have a passion to serve Him. Most of all, we're looking for people who want to use their skills as educators to help provide God's Word for those who still need it. Come Explore the Opportunities at a World Class Encounter and/or on the Teacher Cruise this summer!

Q. Where does Wycliffe place educators?

A. You may be surprised! We work in over 90 locations worldwide and need more than 100 educators every year, in a variety of settings.

Q. What types of educators do you need?

A. Teachers, administrators, librarians, resource teachers, dorm parents…you get the picture! We have opportunities for nearly every kind of educator, from preschool to high school. Come Explore the Opportunities at a World Class Encounter and/or on the Teacher Cruise this summer!

Q. Do educational personnel need to have credentials?

A. Yes. Kindergarten through high school personnel need certification from a state, a province and/or the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

Q. How much experience is required?

A. We recommend at least one successful year of teaching experience. Let's face it, the first year of teaching is tough…and it's not any easier when you're also adjusting to cross-cultural living! Occasionally, we make exceptions for beginning teachers with previous cross-cultural experience and a strong student-teaching experience.

Q. Can you use preschool teachers?

A. Yes. Preschool teachers do not need a credential but should have an associate's degree and successful experience with preschool children.

Q. How long do Wycliffe teachers serve?

A. We have short-term (one year or longer) opportunities. Our experience has shown that an initial two-year commitment works best for the teacher and the school, however we are occasionally able to place an educator for only one year. Let us know if your school system only grants a one-year leave of absence.

Q. What qualifications are needed for boarding home/dorm parents?

A. A love for junior and senior high students, successful experience with that age group, flexibility, household management skills, a strong marriage, and emotional and physical health. Come Explore the Opportunities at a World Class Encounter and/or on the Teacher Cruise this summer!

Q. How long does the application and preparation process take?

A. We'll be honest: it takes some time. We have no desire to place teachers in a situation where they can't be successful. If you're interested in short-term service (one to two years), allow four to twelve months for application and preparation time. For career service, allow one to two years. After you are accepted as a member of Wycliffe, you will attend a 2-week Wycliffe Training Camp, and a 4-day International CHED orientation.

Q. I'd like to get started. Where do I begin?

A. First, download and fill out and submit the Self-Assessment Form. That's the first step. After receiving your paperwork, the personnel department will get in touch with you and guide you through the application and preparation process.
