Are you thinking of serving in missions with Wycliffe?  Please consider the following questions to see if you might be ready.  

Spiritual

  • Do you have a clear and growing relationship with the Lord?
  • Are you actively involved in a local church?
  • Do you agree with the Wycliffe Statement of Faith?

Interpersonal & Cross-Cultural 

  • Are you able to work closely with those of different doctrinal, ethnic and cultural backgrounds?
  • Are you able to build and maintain a network of meaningful relationships?

Financial

  • Are you able to meet or work toward Wycliffe’s debt policy? To begin application, student loans cannot be more than $24,000/single, $36,000/couple, and unsecured debt cannot be more than $1,200.
  • Missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators depend on the Lord to provide for their prayer and financial needs through the involvement of individuals and churches.  Are you open to developing a partnership team to send you into mission service?

Interests/skills

  • Are you interested in being trained for, or do you have any previous training in Bible translation, literacy or linguistics?

OR

  • Do you have training or work experience in another area? You might be able to help support the worldwide efforts of Bible translation by using skills you already have!

Personal Profile

  • Regarding the use of tobacco or illegal drugs: Freedom from use of these is expected, with a clean record for at least 12 months for tobacco and three years for illegal drugs.
  • Regarding the use of alcohol or prescription drugs: Freedom from habitual intoxication, impairment or abuse of these items is expected for at least the last three years.
  • Does your lifestyle reflect a commitment to personal purity? Freedom from pornography use and sexual impurity is expected for at least the last 12 months.
  • If you've been through a divorce, let's talk about it.  Depending on the circumstances, you may be eligible for membership.
