Vision

There are about 200 million people of Asian descent who live in countries other than their homeland. There are an estimated 100 million Chinese, 50 million Indians, 7 million Filipinos, 6 million Koreans, and 3 million Japanese who live as diasporas all over the world. These groups not only have abundant human, financial and spiritual resources, but also strong academic and/or professional orientation, multilingualism and multiculturalism. They are known as the "passport" faces that blend into a host culture easily and can relate with the people based on their own firsthand understanding of cross cultural marginalization and suffering.

Of this group, Korean Americans are being particularly blessed to participate in God's work. South Korea is the second largest missionary sending nation next to the United States, with many Korean Christians working cross-culturally. Assisting and facilitating this process of mobilizing Korean Americans for the ministry of Bible translation is the purpose of the Wycliffe US and Canada Korean Office.

Korean North Americans face special key issues in committing their lives to full time missions. Parents, education and home church relations are the three major issues confronting many Korean North American missionary candidates today. Thus, the Korean North American Office seeks to not only recruit and assist more Korean North Americans to join Bible translation, but also bring awareness to Korean North American churches and individuals of the importance and the urgency of Bible translation as well as the key issues involved with Korean North Americans in missions.
