Corongo-Sihuas Quechua

Translating the first Scripture for two languages

Corongo-Sihuas Quechua

Project Description

“During rest breaks when we are working in the fields, we talk about the Luke video we’ve been watching and what it means for us,” says a Sihuas Quechua speaker. “We ask ourselves, ‘How shall we live, now that we have this new understanding of Jesus?’”

We are partnering with Corongo Quechua and Sihuas Quechua translation teams as they produce the very first Scripture in their heart languages!

A Quechua translator once said, “The people in my village … are not guided by God’s principles.” But as the truth of Scripture becomes clear, people from both language communities are experiencing the life-changing power of God’s Word.

One of the translators uses colorful pamphlets full of passages from Luke to teach Corongo women.

“As a result of these Bible studies, some of the women have been reconciled to their husbands,” reports the project adviser. They’re eager for more Bible studies!

Your prayers and investment will help Corongo and Sihuas Quechua people gain access to God’s Word in their own languages!

This is a multiple year project. Dates: 2016-2019

Funds in excess of the current need will be applied to a similar project or to future needs within the same project.
