Cultural Preservation

  • August 20, 2009

Preserving an individual’s culture while engaging in Bible translation projects is necessary because it provides the individual with a sense of value, contribution and belonging. Having a language documented in the language that speaks directly to someone’s heart gives them, their history, and their unique perspective on the world an outlet for engaging those outside of their culture on more level terms. Many people groups do not have their language written down. By translating the Bible in a way that preserves their culture, individuals have more confidence, purpose and the ability to relate to others within their community and outside of it.
