Most of the 20,000 Taveta people in Kenya practice some form of Christianity, but old customs concerning healing or curses are also part of their religion. One Taveta man said, “We worshipped and offered sacrifices knowing that God didn’t hear us. He was never ours, but only belonged to the Wabungus [English speakers].” In the next three years, the three Taveta translators want to translate six New Testament books, starting with the Gospel of Luke, so the “JESUS” film can be produced. Their desire is to see the Word of God impact lives as quickly as possible.
