Gavin and Carrie are missionaries who experienced God’s love in a special way when COVID-19 threatened their family.
Carrie works in a medical clinic and Gavin is a helicopter pilot who ferries Bible translation teams and the supplies they need to their villages in Papua New Guinea (PNG). He also provides vital and often life-saving transportation when medical evacuations are needed.
But due to COVID-19 concerns, Gavin and his family decided they needed to leave PNG. Since Gavin and Carrie are parents of quintuplets, one of whom has a compromised lung, clinic personnel were concerned that COVID-19 may be a serious threat to the child’s health — especially with limited health care available in their community.
After international flights were suspended, the U.S. State Department arranged a flight for American citizens that needed to get to the U.S. It was stressful. The family had just a few days to pack what they could and say goodbye to their friends — not knowing if or when they would be back.
Thanks to generous partners like you, Wycliffe can provide financial help for missionaries like Gavin and Carrie when they face unexpected challenges. Today you can restore and grow our Missionary Assistance Fund which helps missionaries.
Through a gift to this fund, you’ll help continue the work of missionaries when their financial partnership drops due to a crisis. You’ll also assist missionaries who’ve needed to relocate as a result of a crisis. Your faithful gift can demonstrate the love of Christ to more missionaries like Gavin and Carrie.
