Mike Rueck | Wycliffe Bible Translators
The Wycliffe Ministry of

Mike Rueck

Thanks for joining me in helping get God's Word translated into the minority languages of Nigeria! I'm coordinating efforts to help Nigerian Bible translators develop a writing system that fits their language so well that it is easier for native speakers to read and write it than English and other widely spoken languages. They also need to bring their innate knowledge of the rules of their language to a conscious level so that they can teach others how to write it properly. And they need to be able to describe the differences between the rules of the languages they are translating the Scriptures from and their own language so that they can understand the meaning of the original well and express it naturally in their own language.

I'm also thrilled to support the nation-wide, grassroots movement for the development of minority languages being coordinated by the Conference of Autochthonous Ethnic Community Development Associations (CONAECDA). We are helping minority communities use A Guide For Planning the Future of Our Language to gain insights into the vitality level of their language and decide what they want to do about it. This kind of community initiative creates the ideal environment for language development that will last, which is, in turn, the best environment for regular use of the written Scriptures in their language. It's also an amazing answer to prayer for the apparently impossible goal of seeing programs begun in every Nigerian language community in need of the Scriptures in their own language by 2025.

Wycliffe Ministry Budget

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its missionaries to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts missionaries’ ability to begin and remain in their assignment.

This budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the missionaries receive as “take-home pay” for their daily living expenses.
