The Wycliffe Ministry of

Cathy Krekel

From ’84-‘99 Cathy served as a Literacy Specialist in the language-rich country of Papua New Guinea. In the making of books there is no end (Eccles 12:12) and in a country with over 800 languages, the work cut out for Literacy Workers is something akin to eternal job security.
Yet in '99 as a new millennium dawned during her furlough, it came to Cathy’s attention that Jesus’ own heart language, Aramaic, was not only a living language spoken by millions but that speakers of five Aramaic dialects were experiencing a language renaissance of sorts. After centuries of resistance, Aramaic speakers now welcomed the notion of updated Scripture translations. Cathy's next role was helping to promote one of one of those dialects in both print and audio formats including a dramatized recording.
Also at that time were opportunities for Cathy to serve in recruitment events and activities. Recruitment? As in the world of bonuses and signing contracts with disingenuous fine print? Well not exactly but God’s reward and retirement package aside, thousands of roles still need to be filled in both language and support related areas. Recruiters like Cathy provide a relational connection between Wycliffe and the people we need to join us to accomplish our God-ordained vision and mandate.
Your involvement with Cathy through prayer and/or financial giving to her Wycliffe ministry contributes toward ALL language communities receiving God’s Word in their own heart languages in order to reach their hearts. Thank you for your interest and participation in this work so close to the heart of God.

Wycliffe Ministry Budget

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its missionaries to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to this account directly impacts missionaries’ ability to begin and remain in their assignment.

This budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the missionaries receive as “take-home pay” for their daily living expenses.
