David has been in Southeast Asia since August 2021. Much of his focus so far has been preparing for project work by learning two languages key for living and working in the region, but he has also started helping his teammates in a variety of ways on the side. David initially went with the goal of being a translation advisor for a potential new Bible translation project, but as plans have developed, he started to see a greater need to help existing projects on the team, especially with computer tools. David enjoys working with computers and is now exploring how he can use these gifts in combination with his linguistics background to assist the many active translation teams around him. He is also nearing the goal level in his language learning, which he hopes to reach by the end of 2026 so that he can devote full time and energy to helping teams and continuing to explore what God has brought him there for.
