Translating more of the New Testament into their language
For many years, Bekalu, a Mosiye pastor, used the Amharic Bible for preaching and teaching. He was no different than other local church leaders who also referenced the national language Bible.
“Sometimes people would return home without retaining anything from the Sunday service,” Bekalu said. “It was very sad.” He even admitted that many ministers themselves didn’t fully understand Amharic.
But when translation work began in his community, Bekalu was filled with hope. He eagerly joined the reviewer’s committee. “I have prayed a long time for God to speak directly to the Mosiye people without any interference,” he said.
Now, you can help a local team produce Scripture in the Mosiye language!
Previously the team members translated the Gospels of Mark and Luke. In this three-year project, they will complete three more New Testament books — Matthew, John and Acts. They will also draft 1-2 Corinthians.
Your prayers and gifts will help the Mosiye people experience more of God’s Word in a language that speaks to their hearts!
Funds in excess of the current need will be applied to a similar project or to future needs within the same project.
