As Christians in the Oro Cluster worship God, they’re often inspired to make up songs and sing them in their own languages. It’s one of the reasons why they eagerly anticipate having the poetry of the book of Psalms translated.
“Old Testament portions for Sunday readings and the Psalms are the highest priority,” a project adviser said.
We’re working with local partners to produce Scripture portions in two Oro Cluster languages.
As the Baruga team moves forward in this project, they aim to complete over 445 Old Testament verses. Portions of Genesis, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Psalms, Isaiah, Lamentations and Joel will be translated over the course of two years.
The Korafe team will finish drafting Genesis and then test the book in the community. They also plan to complete Judges and 48 Psalms.
In addition, team members will help determine the translation needs of the nearby Doghoro people group.
Your prayers and gifts will help make more of God’s Word available to the people of the Oro Cluster in languages that speak to their hearts!
Funds in excess of the current need will be applied to a similar project or to future needs within the same project.
