Sebat Cluster

Completing the New Testament in seven languages

Sebat Cluster

Project Description

Your help is needed to accelerate Bible translation in Ethiopia!

The seven languages of the Sebat Cluster are among the many in Ethiopia that lack a translation of God’s Word. In one of the languages, the Gospel of Mark was published many years ago. But the other six groups have no completed Scripture.

“The churches in these people groups are motivated to have Scripture in these languages,” a project adviser said. “They are convinced it will enable them to evangelize and disciple more effectively.”

In this three-year project, each translation team aims to complete and publish the New Testament. The teams are using an accelerated quality assurance process built on multiple checks for clarity, accuracy, naturalness and acceptability.

Having translated Scripture will help local Christians to mature in their faith and reach out to others in their communities. “People will better understand the message of the gospel, find life in Christ and grow strong as his disciples,” the adviser said.

Your prayers and gifts will help to make Scripture available to the people of the Sebat Cluster — in languages that speak to their hearts!
