Jon and Cindi Hampshire became Wycliffe members in 1988 and began overseas service with SIL Eastern Congo Group in 1992 - supporting the work of Bible translation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Jon has served in a variety of administrative roles, including director of the work for 13 years. Cindi has served as prayer coordinator and bookkeeper. Having turned their roles over to Godly Congolese co-workers in 2025, they returned to the US to be closer to aging parents, children, and grandchildren. They reside in Greenville, South Carolina, and work remotely from their home. Jon serves as Resource Mobilization Manager, with focus on French-speaking African countries. In short, Jon's work is to develop and foster partnerships with interested people and churches, and to raise awareness, financial resources, and prayer support for the work of Bible translation and all of its related activities in francophone Africa. Cindi continues service with SIL Eastern Congo Group in their finance department, providing a vital link between the work in the DRC and funding partners. Wycliffe Ministry Budget
Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
