A young girl stepped forward, her small hands cradling a woven basket with the utmost care.

Inside rested a gift her community had desperately prayed for — the Word of God finally translated into their own language.

As she walked toward the congregation, worship songs filled the air. Some stood with hands lifted high in praise and gratitude. Others gently brushed away tears. It was a truly special time that overflowed with joy as the people received God’s Word in a close and deeply personal way.

“We consider ourselves blessed!” exclaimed a Weh community leader.

After Reverend Samuel Ngeh, a Bible translation consultant, was presented with the translated Scripture, he confirmed that the Weh New Testament had passed all rigorous checks, and he declared its authenticity. This sacred moment touched the hearts of all those in attendance!

“We are one of the communities that are privileged to have the New Testament translated in our language,” said a community leader. “I believe this will deepen our faith in God and bring a renewal in our faith by hearing God in our language.”

Translated Scripture has power when it’s presented to people in a language and format they clearly understand. The story of the Weh community is just one example of how Scripture can be the ultimate joy — a joy that transforms lives. 

God promises in Isaiah 55:11 (NLT): “It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”

“The Bible in the Weh language is a miracle in our hands. This Bible communicates to us the
truths of God as He expects us to understand,” said Nji Wuning, Fon of Weh (a chieftain or ruler of the region). “My prayer is that we are not going to end here. I have the strong belief and desire that one day very soon, we as a community will celebrate the complete Bible, both Old and New Testaments in the Weh language.”
