The Pehrsons have served with Wycliffe since 2000. They are team leaders for the Aitape West Translation Program in Papua New Guinea with Wycliffe's strategic partner SIL-PNG.
Ben's passion is to equip translators from eleven languages in Sandaun Province to produce and improve their own mother tongue Bible translations. His special focus is on assisting the Onnele language teams of the Torricelli language family.
Mandy has trained a group of local literacy teachers from the eleven Aitape West languages, and now also teaches at Ukarumpa International School where their children attend alongside classmates from over twenty different nationalities.
It's a real joy to see a fire for God's Word growing since the first Scripture portions were published in 2011, today with over 75% of the New Testament consultant checked as well as some Old Testament portions. A growing team has been working to oversee Bible portion publications each year, growing Bible dictionaries, Bible audio recordings, dictionary development, local language grammar discovery, training in literacy and reading fluency, and to address other spiritual and language development needs together with local church and community stakeholders.
A key goal is to train local trainers to serve other language groups in the region and help them receive God's Word for the first time in their own heart languages. To that end, some are already serving as advisors to other translation teams and mentors for other language groups at regional workshops where Ben has served as a trainer in New Testament Greek, Translation, and Linguistics courses.

Wycliffe Ministry Budget
Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
