John and Gweni are supporting Bible translation in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea. John’s background as a sonar technician and plumber in new construction, has led him to serve as a missionary for fourteen years in Papua New Guinea, running the mission plumbing department, helping with village building and maintenance projects, and managing a remote regional center. He now works with inventory and shipping for the construction department at the main mission base in Ukarumpa.

Gweni grew up as the daughter of Wycliffe Bible Translators in a remote village on Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea, and returned in 2002 with high school teaching credentials and an interest in graphic arts and video editing. She has served the PNG mission branch for fourteen years as a literacy mentor, video editor and graphic artist, high school English and horticulture teacher, as well as a wife and mother to her family. Currently she works as an editor of eBooks and print books, as well as a teacher trainer for local elementary teachers.

Both John and Gweni are excited to be able to support the work of Bible translation through the skills God has given them. Their roles as support personnel make it possible for missionaries to remain in the field and concentrate their full attention on translating the Bible, bringing the Word to the people of Papua New Guinea in their heart languages.
