For 24 years, Mark and Cheryl supported Bible translation in Papua, Indonesia. Mark maintained the YAJASI fleet of airplanes, managed the maintenance department, supervised the building of a new hangar and took on several community services at different times during those years. Cheryl taught math in Hillcrest School most of those years and sometimes taught drama.

Since 2016, Mark has been serving as Consultant to the JAARS VP for Transportation and a few other positions, focusing primarily on strategy and vision. As we look at serving the transportation needs of the church and Bible Translation, in a rapidly changing world, it is vital that we maintain an appropriate and relevant strategy. Mark retired at the end of October 2023 and is looking forward to volunteering at JAARS as needed in the areas of strategy and change.

Cheryl is charged with maintaining the integrity of the Wycliffe USA Ministry Budget forms and documents, helping the team of Member Financial Liaisons have the tools they need to help the members with their ministry budgets. Cheryl’s overseas and math teaching experiences have fitted her, with God-designed fine-tuning, for this position which combines member care and financial policies. Cheryl will continue to fill this vital role - someone needs to like math! - for at least two more years.
