As a missionary kid from Ireland and Germany, Emma has had a heart for missions since childhood. In high school she began learning Greek and Hebrew with the intent to pursue Bible translation. Since then she’s received a bachelor's degree in biblical languages and a masters in applied linguistics.
Next, Emma plans to attend French language school in Neuchâtel, Switzerland to prepare for work in Francophone Africa. Her goal is to assist mother tongue translators in editing the draft translation they create based on a pre-existing translation in a trade language. By bringing her studies in Greek and Hebrew, exegesis, linguistics, and translation theory to the table, Emma will be able to help ensure that elements of meaning which might not have translated well into the trade language are represented well in the final edition.
Now that she is able to read the Bible in its original form, Emma has experienced first hand the difficulty of learning about God in a second language. She has become even more determined to help people access God's word in a language and format they understand clearly. Wycliffe Ministry Budget
Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
