David & Susan Howard

The Howards have been working among the Adzera people of Papua New Guinea since 1999. David serves primarily as a translation advisor and mentor to Adzera speakers translating the Scriptures into their own mother tongue. He has a secondary assignment as a translation consultant, has been involved in training Papua New Guinean Bible translators, and has served short-term in various administrative roles over the years to meet critical needs. Susan works part-time on Adzera literacy projects, is training to become a literacy consultant, and has taught literacy classes in Papua New Guinea in the past.

Since the middle of 2019, the Howards have been based in the USA, having felt called to return home to help meet the needs of elderly parents. Due to ongoing family needs, they continue their work among the Adzera people remotely for the time being, while David makes trips to Papua New Guinea twice a year to work with the Adzera mother tongue translators.

Wycliffe Ministry Budget

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its missionaries to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts missionaries’ ability to begin and remain in their assignment.

This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the missionaries receive as “take-home pay” for their daily living expenses.

Launch Expense Account

Wycliffe establishes the Launch Expense Account for setup needs beyond recurring ministry and living expenses.

Examples of what these funds cover are training and orientation courses, airfare, visas, immunizations, language learning, work permits, house setup, vehicle, equipment purchases, shipping, etc.
