John and Linda began serving in Mexico in 1996, in the state of Oaxaca. They spent about 20 years with the people of San Vicente Coatlán, working with them to translate God's Word into the Zapotec language. They also developed literacy materials and did linguistic analysis, since there had been no written materials in the language. Several videos of the life of Christ based on the Gospels are now available in Zapotec as well as the recorded audio of the entire New Testament. The Zapotec New Testament was published in 2015.

 

In recent years, they led the cross-cultural orientation course, equipping new members for service in Mexico. They continue to promote the distribution and use of the translated Zapotec New Testament in San Vicente and among speakers of that language living in the US. John recently served as center administrator for our main training facility in Oaxaca, Mexico. He also serves as a translation consultant for other translation teams in Mexico. Linda serves in Member Care, providing resources and organizing events to encourage spiritual growth and healthy relationships among Wycliffe missionaries serving in Mexico.

 

Because of family needs, they currently live in the US, continuing to serve in many of these same ways but remotely with occasional trips to Mexico.
