Chad Admin Capacity
Our field partner is excited to be involving more qualified Chadians in the Bible translation movement! This project aims to raise funds to help our field partner cover local staffing costs, particularly for those serving in leadership, administration, finance, HR, IT, and language technology.
Among other Chadians, this project aims to support Pastor David Jean Ratou, our partner’s first Chadian General Director. Pastor David Ratou has served the Chadian church for many years, and his ministry experience and training in organizational management are a welcome addition to the Chad administrative team. He lives with his wife Rebecca and the youngest of their three daughters in the capital city.
David Jean Ratou writes: The Gospel first came to my region of Chad in the 1950s, and one of the earliest missions was a school for the blind. One of the many blind Chadians who attended this school was my father, Jean Ratou, a descendent of Arab-speaking slaves, who became a Christian after learning to read the Bible in Braille. My father was later martyred for his faith, but he left behind a legacy in his children. I later became a pastor of one of Chad’s evangelical denominations and have served in leadership for many years. Last year I had the joy of celebrating the publication of the entire Bible in my mother tongue, Chadian Arabic! This year I am becoming more directly involved with Bible translation by taking on the role of general director with our field partner.
Other Chadian staff assisted by this project includeː
Padeu Dakouli, director of administration and finance, an elder in his church, who has worked with our field partner for over 25 years;
David Oumar, office manager, treasurer for his denomination and with our field partner since 2004;
Eugene Guignar, finance manager, treasurer of his local church and with our field partner since 2011.
Thank you for considering partnering in Bible translation with Wycliffe in Chad through your financial and prayer partnership of the Chad Admin Capacity project.
