Language Programs Management Support
Wycliffe's Eastern Congo Group (ECG) will be managing work in 12 projects (6 New Testaments (NTs) with literacy; 4 mobilization/oral Bible storying; 2 literacy only) and providing technical support for about 45 other language projects in various stages of work.
There are more than one hundred languages with translation needs remaining in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) but we have limited staff resources which hinders us from launching new programs. For these two reasons, ECG is focusing heavily on training our own staff as well as project staff to increase the number of languages we can engage with.
Specifically, we continue to train 1) the language project staff who still need to improve their management of finances and reporting on activities, and 2) the language committees where work is starting in the near future (Bira, Nyali, Kaeku, Hema languages). Working with the language committees focuses on increasing their capacity to own, manage, and contribute local resources. This entails regular communication (which is expensive in DRC) as well as regular monitoring and evaluation visits (which is even more expensive).
Thank you for considering partnering in Bible translation with Wycliffe in the Democratic Republic of Congo through your financial and prayer partnership of the Language Programs Management Support project.
