Nigeria, with over 500 languages and a population of over 180 million people, is a fertile ground for Bible translation work as it is home for many Bibleless language communities. Wycliffe’s field partner SIL Nigeria has 80 workers from all over the world serving many of the 100+ ongoing language projects.
Plangtong is a national missionary who is committed to providing training to local translators in Nigeria and ensuring that vernacular translations are done accurately, clearly and in a way that sounds natural in that language. Plangtong is committed to fulfilling her call to serve in the Bible translation work in Nigeria. As a Nigerian from Mwaghavul language, she has worked with her own language translation for some time. She knows the value of understanding God’s word in one’s language and how it can personally transform.
