With over 100 million people who speak more than 80 different mother-tongue languages, Ethiopia is a land of diversity. For speakers of about 50 of those languages, the word of God is not accessible in a language that speaks to their hearts. There is a great deal of work to be done in this country.

With a passion for reaching the many different people groups in their own country, Yonathan and Tizita answered God's call to get involved in Bible translation in 2010. They began by working on a Scripture Engagement team, finding pathways to help people read, hear, and apply God's word as it was translated into their own languages. During the past nine years, they have both been involved in a variety of roles at Wycliffe/SIL and they were blessed with a baby boy named Musie. Yonathan also completed graduate work on a degree in Christian Leadership which included research on the impact of African traditional religious leadership philosophy and belief on Christian leaders in Ethiopia.

This year, God has called Yonathan and Tizita to new roles in Bible translation. Yonathan is becoming the Director of Wycliffe/SIL Ethiopia, and Tizita is working both as a Scripture Engagement Specialist and Personal Assistant to the Director. Part of the process of stepping into these new roles, however, is to build up a vital team of people who can partner with them financially and through prayer.
