Khmer Trauma Healing
The Cambodian people have experienced a great amount of trauma, brought on by wars, oppression, poverty, and the genocide of the Khmer Rouge. They have been forced to move on with life to survive and take care of their children. The pain caused by trauma is tucked deep inside their hearts causing wounds that affect their ability to hear and understand God’s Word.
The Khmer Trauma Healing Project engages the Cambodian people with God’s Word through facilitating healing groups. Healing groups are the heart of this ministry. Led by a local layperson who has been trained in facilitation, these groups help people identify their heart wounds. They use Scripture and basic mental health practices to lead healing group participants on a journey of healing. As the participants begin this journey, barriers are broken that once prevented them from knowing God and his goodness.
